Dr. Amy A. Caudy conducted
her thesis research in Dr. Gregory Hannon's Laboratory.
Her thesis was entitled "Mechanism
and applications of RNAi." Amy was awarded the prestigious
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Harold M. Weintraub
Award and was also the recipient of a Howard Hughes Medical
Predoctoral Institute Fellowship. She completed her postdoctoral
research with Dr. John Atkinson at Washington University
in St. Louis. Dr. Caudy is currently a Lewis-Sigler Fellow
at the Lewis-Sigler Institute
for Genomics at Princeton University. |

Dr. Ira Hall
conductedhis research in Dr. Shiv Grewal's Laboratory.
His thesis was entitled "A Role for RNA Interfence
in Heterochromatic Silencing and Chromosome Dynamics."
Ira's research contributed to the prestigious AAAS Newcomb
Cleveland Prize during his time at the Watson School.
Dr. Hall is currently an Assistant Professor in the
department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at
the University of Virginia Medicine School of Medicine. |

Dr. Patrick
Paddison conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Gregory Hannon's Laboratory.
His thesis was entitled "RNA
interference in mammals: the quest for illuminating
gene function." During his time at the Watson
School, Patrick was the recipient of a US Army Medical
Research and Material Comment Breast Cancer Research
Program Predoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Paddison is currently
a Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Fellow. |

Dr. Emiliano
Rial Verde conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Holly Cline's Laboratory.
His thesis
was entitled "The role of the immediate-early gene
arc in synaptic transmission." Emiliano was the
recipient of a Howard Hughes Medical Predoctoral Institute
Fellowship. Dr. Rial Verde is conducting postdoctoral
research with Dr. Yuste at Columbia University. |

Dr. Elizabeth
Thomas conducted her thesis research in Dr. Michael Wigler's
Laboratory. Her thesis
was entitled "Exploring repetitive sequences in
the human genome." Elizabeth was the recipient of
a Howard Hughes Medical Predoctoral Institute Fellowship.
She is conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Aviv
Regev at Harvard University's Center for Genomic Research. |

Dr. Niraj Tolia
conducted his thesis research in Dr. Leemor Joshua-Tor's
Laboratory. His thesis was entitled "Structural
and biochemical studies of the malaria parasite Plasmodim
Falciparum protein EBA-175 involved in erythrocyte invasion."
Dr. Tolia is currently an Assistant Professor in the
department of Molecular Microbiology at Washington University
School of Medicine St. Louis. |

Dr. Michelle Cilia conducted
her thesis research in Dr. David Jackson's Laboratory.
Her thesis was entitled "Mechanisms of intercellular communication
in Arabodopsis thaliana." Michelle
is currently doing postdoctoral work in the lab of
Dr. Sondra Lazarowitz in the Plant Pathology Department
at Cornell University. |

Dr. Zachary
Lippman conducted his thesis research in Dr. Rob Martienssen's
Laboratory. His thesis
was entitled "Transposons, heterochromatin, and
epigenetic landscapes in Arabidopsis thaliana." Dr.
Lippman was the recipient of the prestigious Fred Hutchinson
Cancer Research Center's Harold M. Weintraub Award. Dr.
Lippman was also the recipient of the Human Frontier
Science Program Fellowship. He will conduct postdoctoral
research with Dr. Dani Zamir in Israel at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem and work on quantiative genetics
and natural variation in tomato. |

Dr. Ji-Joon
Song conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Leemor Joshua-Tor's Laboratory.
His thesis was
entitled "Structural and biochemical studies of
Argonaute reveal the slicing mechanism of RISC-RNAi effector
complex." Dr. Song will conduct postdoctoral research
with Dr. Robert E. Kingston on Chromatin modification
at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University,
in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Song is the recipient of the Jane Coffin Childs Postdoctoral
fellowship. |

Dr. Elena Ezhkova conducted
her thesis research in Dr. William Tansey's laboratory.
Her thesis
was entitled "Role of the proteasome in gene control." Dr.
Ezhkova will conduct postdoctoral research with Dr. Elaine
Fuchs at Rockefeller University. Dr. Ezhkova is the recipient
of the Women and Science Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rockefeller
University. |

Dr. Ahmet Denli conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Gregory Hannon's laboratory.
His thesis was entitled "Processing
of pri-microRNAs by the Microprocessor Complex." Dr.
Denli is currently a postdoctoral fellow at The Salk
Institute with Dr. Fred Gage. |

Dr. Masafumi
Muratani conducted his thesis research in Dr. William
Tansey's laboratory. His thesis was entitled “Regulation
of gene expression by the ubiquitin-proteasome system." Dr.
Muratani is currently a postdoctoral fellow with
Dr. Richard Treisman at the London Research Institute
of Cancer Research UK. Dr. Muratani is the recipient
of the Cancer Research UK Postdoctoral Fellowship. |

Dr. Marco Mangone conducted
his thesis research in the laboratory of Dr. Winship
Herr. His thesis was entitled "Analysis of the
HCF-1 basic region and its role in sustaining cell
proliferation." He is currently conducting postdoctoral
research with Dr. Fabio Piano at New York University. |

Dr. Rebecca
Ewald conducted her thesis research with Dr.
Hollis Cline. Her thesis was entitled "“NMDA
receptor subtypes and dendritic arbor morphology”.
Dr. Ewald is a management trainee in Roche Diagnostics'
“PERSPECTIVES”, divisional talent development
program. |

Dr. Chuck Kopec conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Roberto Malinow's laboratory.
His
thesis was entitled "AMPA receptor trafficking
and their effect on spine enlargement during long-term
potentiation." Dr. Kopec was the recipient of
a NRSA Graduate Research Fellowship during his time
at the Watson School. Dr. Kopec is conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Carlos Brody at Princeton University. |

Dr.
Santanu Chakraborty conducted his thesis research in
Dr. Carlos Brody's laboratory. His thesis was entitled "Analysis
and Modeling of Neural Connectivity in a Short Term
Memory System." Dr. Chakraborty is conducting
postdoctoral research with Dr. Michael Wigler at Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratory. |

Dr. Catherine Cormier
conducted her thesis research in Dr. Yuri Lazebnik’s
Laboratory. Her thesis was entitled "Caspase activation
in unidentified apoptotic pathways." Catherine
was the 2004 recipient of a PEO Scholar's award. Catherine
was also awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate
Research Fellowship. Dr. Cormier is currently the Scientific
Liaison of the plasmid repositories at the Harvard Institute
of Proteomics. |

Dr. Beth Chen conducted her thesis research in Dr. Mitya Chklovskii’s Laboratory. Her thesis was entitled "Neuronal Network of C. elegans: from Anatomy to Behavior." Dr. Chen will begin a postdoctoral fellowship in San Francisco, California in Fall 2007. |

Dr. Claudia Feierstein
conducted her thesis research in Dr. Zachary Mainen’s
Laboratory. Her thesis was entitled "Representation
of Goals, Actions, and Outcomes in Rat Orbitifrontal
Cortex." Dr. Feierstein is currently conducting
postdoctoral research with Dr. Pierre-Marie Lledo at
the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France in the Perception
and Memory Laboratory. |

Dr. Darren Burgess conducted his thesis research in Dr. Scott Lowe’s Laboratory. His thesis was entitled "RNAi Genetic Screens for Chemotherapy Response Modifier Genes." Dr. Burgess is conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Alan Ashworth at the Institute of Cancer Research, Chelsea, London. |

Dr. Gowan Tervo conducted his thesis research in Dr. Karel Svoboda’s Laboratory. His thesis was entitled "Development of Molecular Systems for the Inactivation of SynapticTransmission." Dr. Tervo is conducting postdoctoral research at Janelia Farms with Dr. Alla Karpova. |

Dr. Elizabeth Murchison conducted her thesis research in Dr. Gregory Hannon’s Laboratory. Her thesis was entitled "Genetic Studies of Mammalian Dicer." Dr. Murchison is conducting postdoctoral research with Gregory Hannon. She is the recipient of an American Australian Association Education Fund Fellowship, which she will use for her postdoctoral studies. |

Dr. Tomas Hromadka conducted his thesis research in Dr. Anthony Zador’s Laboratory. His thesis was entitled "Representation of Sounds in Auditory Cortex of Awake Rats." Dr. Hromadka is currently a Postgraduate Research Assistant at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory with Dr. Anthony Zador. |

Dr. Hiroki Asari conducted
his thesis research in Dr. Anthony Zador's Laboratory.
His thesis was entitled "Auditory System Characterization."
Dr. Asari is currently conducting postdoctoral research
in Dr. Markus Meister's laboratory at Harvard University. |

Dr. Francois Bolduc
conducted his thesis research in Dr. Tim Tully’s
Laboratory. His thesis was entitled “Role of Fragile
X Mental Retardation Protein and the RNAi Pathway in
Drosophila Learning and Memory”. Dr. Bolduc is
currently an Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Neurosciences
Division at the University of Alberta, Canada. |

Dr. Wei Wei conducted
her thesis research in Dr. Roberto Malinow's Laboratory.
Her thesis was entitled "The Interplay between
Amyloid-beta and Neural Activity." She is currently
conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Marla Feller
at the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Rebecca Bish conducted her thesis research in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Myers. Her thesis was entitled "The Function of the Ubiquitin-Binding Zinc Finger Domain in DNA Repair." She is currently conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Eric Holland at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. |

Dr. Christopher Harvey conducted his thesis research in Dr. Karel Svoboda’s laboratory. His thesis was entitled “Dynamics of Plasticity and Signaling at Individual Synapses.” Dr. Harvey will conduct his postdoctoral research in Dr. David Tank’s laboratory at Princeton University. |
